    If you like to talk about beer, not to mention sample some of the industry’s best new products, there’s no place like the Craft Brewers Conference. This year’s event in our nation’s capitol was beer nirvana, with nearly 6,000 other beer industry members hitting the booths, listening to speakers, learning about industry trends and tasting the wares of crafters from across the country…all geared to promote growth in the craft beer industry. From the welcoming reception in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum to the exhibit hall in the convention center, the entire event was a first class display of both people and companies passionate about one thing…making and selling great beer.

  • Don’t underdo your next move, and other space planning advice

    In our feature on best practices for process/packaging efficiency, we discussed facility planning strategies with Steve Hunter, owner of Facility Planning Inc. During that chat with Hunter, the point he kept coming back to was: When you are considering that next move, be sure to think big. Under-sizing your next expansion could actually cost you more money than over-preparing for success with your next facility.

    “We emphasize that because it’s the most common error we see on the distributor side. People will find a piece of property, think it’s perfect, build it out and then in five years they are squeezed. There are no more room for trucks, can’t extend the building — it’s not good,” Hunter said. Read full article.
